Become a member

Fist Club Europe e.V. is a registered association based in Berlin that advocates for education, prevention, and advocacy surrounding a sexual practice that still receives too little attention in politics, medicine, and the public sphere. The association operates internationally and sees itself as an umbrella organization for initiatives, clubs, and individuals who want to advance this work.

Membership is not just a formal act. It is a decision to ensure that these issues become visible, that medical education remains easily accessible, and that people who practice fisting can network and support each other – across national borders.

Becoming a member helps us build something that doesn’t yet exist: a registered, democratically structured, internationally networked organization for an issue that many would prefer to leave unspoken. That’s precisely why we’re needed.

Two ways to become a member

According to § 4 of our statutes, the association has three types of membership: ordinary members, supporting members, and honorary members. You can actively join as an ordinary member or a supporting member. Which form is right for you or your organization depends on how you want to get involved.

Regular membershipSupporting membership

Full membership – have a say, help shape the future

Ordinary membership is primarily aimed at organizations, legal entities, and legally constituted initiatives that actively support the goals of our association and wish to contribute to their realization. In justified individual cases, the board may also admit natural persons as ordinary members if they are particularly closely connected to the association’s purpose in terms of content or structure.

What that means in concrete terms

  • Voting rights at the annual general meeting – you help decide on board elections, changes to the statutes, budget, and strategy.
  • Full visibility as part of the Fist Club network: listing on the world map, networking with other clubs and initiatives, shared communication channels.
  • Access to all templates and materials: sample statutes, grant applications, membership applications, data protection templates, press releases.
  • Support for founding your own club: Coverage of notary and registration costs 1:1, individual review of further needs.
  • Participation in working groups, advisory boards and projects – as far as capacity and interest allow.

Annual fee

€200 per year. In justified individual cases, the board may, upon written request, waive or defer the membership fee in whole or in part (Section 8, Paragraph 4 of the bylaws). If you need this, simply write to us – we will discuss it confidentially.

Who decides on admission?

The board decides on each application for membership. According to § 4 paragraph 2 of the statutes, the decision is final and requires no justification. In practice, this means: We examine whether the applying organization or initiative truly aligns with the goals of our association and whether meaningful cooperation on equal terms is possible.

Supporting membership – strengthening us financially

Supporting membership is the easiest way to become part of the association. It is aimed at anyone who wants to support our work financially – individuals, organizations, and companies. It does not include voting rights at the general meeting, but the requirements for joining are intentionally low.

What that means in concrete terms

  • You or your organization support the association with an annual contribution, the amount of which you determine yourself – but at least €80.
  • Newsletter with insights from the association’s work, event information and background – six to twelve times a year.
  • Invitation to all public club events, networking meetings and themed evenings.
  • If desired, we can list you by name as a sponsor on our website (or anonymously if you prefer).

Annual fee

Freely selectable, minimum €80 per year. We recommend a contribution that suits your situation. Some supporting members pay €80, others €250, and some companies contribute significantly more. You decide how much you want to contribute.

Who can become a supporting member?

In principle, any person or organization can become a member. While the board formally decides on admission, in practice, becoming a supporting member is a straightforward process. The only requirement is that the values and goals of our association are respected.

Honorary membership

Honorary membership is not a membership one applies for. It is awarded by the general meeting, upon the recommendation of the board, to individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the association. Honorary members are exempt from membership fees in accordance with Section 8, Paragraph 5 of the statutes.

We’re calling it short here to give you the full picture – but currently, the only ways for you to get involved in the club are regular membership or supporting membership.

Frequently Asked Questions about Membership

Can I become a full member as a private individual? In principle, regular membership is aimed at organizations and initiatives. Natural persons may be admitted in justified individual cases if they are particularly connected to the association’s purpose in terms of content or structure. Supporting membership, on the other hand, is always open to you as a private individual.

What is the difference between membership and donation? Membership is a recurring connection to the club – with a membership card, newsletter, and invitations. A donation is a one-time contribution without membership status. Both are welcome, but membership allows the club to plan for the long term.

How can I leave the club? According to Section 4, Paragraph 3 of the bylaws, membership may be terminated at any time by submitting a written notice of resignation to a member of the board – email is sufficient. The resignation will take effect at the end of the calendar month in which the notice is received. Membership fees already paid will not be refunded.

Will my data be shared with third parties? No. We process your membership data exclusively for club purposes and do not share it with third parties. The only exception: Board members are required to be entered in the club register and their information is publicly accessible there – but this only applies to the board, not to regular members.

What if I can’t afford the fees? Write to us. According to § 8 paragraph 4 of the statutes, the board can, in justified cases, waive or defer the membership fee in whole or in part. Money is not the filter by which we want to regulate membership.

Can my organization be a full member of your organization and of another, comparable association at the same time? Yes, simultaneous membership in multiple organizations is common and often even desirable. We welcome members who are also active in other educational, health, or community associations – networking is a key priority for us.
